MERVIN - Merseyside Visitor Information Network
MERVIN is Merseyside's custom-built Destination Management System (DMS) - a comprehensive electronic database of tourism information, which holds data on accommodation, attractions, events, activities, eating and drinking and other destination information. It also has e-commerce functionality and enables online accommodation bookings, special offers, ticket sales, brochure requests and other e-services which are accessible 24 hours a day through a number of websites and the services offered to visitors through Tourist Information Centres. Data currently held in MERVIN powers the official tourism website for Merseyside, www.visitliverpool.com as well as local authority, regional and national websites such as www.visitbritain.com.
Getting Your Business Online
Achieving a high level Internet presence can be time consuming and expensive for small businesses. As the Tourist Board for Merseyside, The Mersey Partnership uses its marketing expertise and resources to successfully promote a number of websites through major search engines and other publications. www.visitliverpool.com currently attracts 60,000 unique visitors a month - a figure that is increasing as we move towards Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture in 2008. Those businesses that are members of The Mersey Partnership take advantage of this marketing and increase the number of visitors viewing their details on www.visitliverpool.com
