Selling Accommodation Online

Accommodation providers updating their availability on the MERVIN system sell their rooms through www.visitliverpool.com, benefiting from the large volume of traffic to the site. The Mersey Partnership also operates an Accommodation Booking Service for any customers who prefer to book over the phone. This service is co-ordinated by operators with over sixteen years of reservations experience. Operators always offer customers the rooms that are entered on MERVIN first so any accommodation providers not utilising this free system are missing out on major business opportunities - MERVIN generates over £1 million worth of bookings each year! In December 2005, Merseyside became the first City-Region to display online availability on www.visitbritain.com, the UK's official tourism website, enabling visitors to that site to book any room updated on the MERVIN system - further enhancing the online presence that MERVIN users have.

Using MERVIN

MERVIN is accessed through an Internet connection so no additional hardware or software is required. Users logon to the MERVIN Availability Extranet using a unique username and password and are then able to allocate empty rooms, change rates and apply restrictions, such as no one nights stays over weekends and other busy periods. Changes are effective immediately and can be made at any time through any computer with an Internet connection (a Broadband connection is recommended for speed and ease of use but is not essential).
