Black Heritage Tour Guides
Black heritage walking tours and lecture presentations by qualified guides are available for individuals or groups in the Liverpool City Region. These tours, lasting about 1 1/2 hours, are suitable for anyone interested in more extensive information about Liverpool's role in the transatlantic slave trade, its abolition and its black heritage. Some tour guides are able to visit schools, organisations and institutions to deliver a virtual walking tour that highlights aspects of Liverpool which are relevant to these themes.

Rita Martelli and Francis Williams are qualified Liverpool 08 Guides who can offer you a detailed Slavery Remembrance Tour which highlights aspects of Liverpool's history connected to the transatlantic slave trade, its abolition and black heritage. Tours last about an hour and a half and highlight sites in the Liverpool city centre such as The Athenaeum, Liverpool Town Hall, Rumford Place (the only Confederate Embassy outside of the United States of America during the civil war), Liverpool Cotton Exchange, Liverpool Parish Church (where the Merchant Coffee House stood) and the International Slavery Museum.

For more information, please visit www.liverpoolblackheritage.com.

To book a tour or a lecture presentation from Rita and/or Francis, please ring (+44) 07779 824009 or (44) 07817 821952.
