£15 million conference boost 

·  City set to get huge financial boost from Labour Party Conference 

·  11,000 delegates, 2,000 journalists and 500 fringe events

·  Huge media exposure expected from five day event

LIVERPOOL is set for a £15 million economic boost later this month when the Labour Party Conference takes place in the city for the first time.

More than 11,000 delegates and visitors are expected in the city for the five-day event from 25– 29 September.

The city will be firmly in the media spotlight for the week as more than 2,000 journalists including national broadcasters and print and online media report on the Conference.

A record 500 fringe meetings, debates and discussions will take place at venues across the city. Bars, restaurants, hotels and shops are all expected to benefit.

Liverpool City Council Leader Joe Anderson said: “This is fantastic news for Liverpool as it clearly demonstrates we are able to handle one of the biggest conferences in the country.

“It is a great opportunity for us to showcase all that is good about the City Region and how Liverpool has been transformed in recent years.
