INVESTMENT and development in Liverpool’s hotel sector has been a “real success story” contributing to the city’s emergence as a world class visitor destination according to a new report published today (Monday, 5 September, 2011).
However, the findings also point to the need for a period of “consolidation and improvement in hotel performance” before renewed market potential for more hotel development in Liverpool City Centre.
The report – Liverpool Hotel Futures 2011 – was commissioned by TMP, the City region’s tourist board, with support from Liverpool Vision and Liverpool City Council. It has been prepared by hotel development consultancy, Hotel Solutions.
Since 2001 there has been “massive expansion” in the city’s hotel sector, according to the report. A total of 28 new hotels and over 3,000 new hotel bedrooms have been added to the city’s offer in the last decade.
