England's Northwest Research Service for Economic Development and Tourism is an initiative led by The Mersey Partnership.

As the lead region for tourism and regeneration based research in the Northwest, England's Northwest Research Service delivers a comprehensive service designed to monitor the performance of the tourism industry in the Northwest.

We provide a range of market research services including satisfaction surveys, event evaluation, marketing evaluation, economic impact assessments and benchmarking to a range of clients across the whole of England's Northwest.

We are the key agency for collating tourism statistics in the Liverpool City Region. This data is used to provide vital information on the economic impact of the Visitor Economy.

We use a nationally recognised independent model called STEAM for assessing such impacts. This takes account of  locally generated data such as visits to attractions and events, hotel stock and performance, car park throughput etc

Analysis from the STEAM report in 2009 has shown that 10.6 million nights were spent by staying visitors in Liverpool City Region whilst 48.2 million day visits were made Together these visitors spent £2.8 billion in the local economy supporting 41,000 jobs.
