Foundation Degree

This course has been developed by Liverpool John Moores University in a unique partnership with local colleges. In 2002 the Sector Skills Council conducted research which identified that less than 16% of managers and supervisors in the tourism and leisure industries are appropriately qualified. Further research undertaken by LJMU locally with over 72 employers, including restaurants, serviced accommodation and attractions, found that 62.5% seen a demand for qualifications and of those 85% have employees within their workforce with the potential for development. Drawing on the research this flexible modular course has been devised ensuring that much of the study takes place within the workplace. It can be studied part time or full time.

The Foundation Degree in Tourism, Hospitality & Leisure is running at Liverpool Community College (link to http://www.liv-coll.ac.uk/) and Wirral Metropolitan College (link to http://wmc.ac.uk/). For more information on courses contact your local college.
